Sentimental Value

“I recognize myself in you. But you're so goddamn angry. It's hard to love someone who's so full of rage. Right? You don't want to be alone forever.” When i first heard these lines, i felt personally attacked. Maybe it’s because i relate to her in so many ways. The anger, the sadness, the unhealed traumas that i kept inside me for a long time. Seeing Nora struggling is like staring myself in a mirror.  However, what stayed with me the most in “Sentimental Value” was the bond between the sisters. Especially the way Nora and Agnes looked out for each other in their darkest of times, it made me yearn for a sister I’ve never really had in my life. Even as an only child, the way this film portrays their beautiful sisterhood moved me and I ended up crying.
