Sing Sing
This film made me realize how grateful I am to have experienced a brotherhood. It’s a simple puzzle only comprised of a handful pieces, but that simplicity is what gets a loose piece to easily fall back into place. Brotherhood is so straightforward that words are few and understanding comes easy, which is why I hold this so close to my heart. It’s punctual without ever feeling overbearing, capturing the relationship between a group of caring men so accurately. They see what each other holds inside and what they could be if they let it out within these plays.
A lot of this is not only credited to the humanistic writing but also to the cast that’s mostly comprised of formerly incarcerated prisoners that brought real experience and emotion to the table.
