suuuper meta. I think this movie does a perfect job of capturing the essence of violence despite showing almost none. as far as the boys— I think they’re meant to be the viewers. they have no motives, no gain, they purely incite violence for entertainment. while we as viewers take a more passive role in perpetuating violence, this is simply a call out, why are humans entertained by it? morbid fascination or something darker? after watching this movie I felt guilty. I felt like part of it was my fault for simply watching, the fourth wall breaks and rewinding scene made me feel like I was in it. this movie changed the way I think about media— I loved it.
