Challengers
89/100
I was beyond impressed with Challengers (2024), and how it manages to completely submerge us into this triangle of betrayal, desire and rivalry. Both the cinematography and score was great, and I also found the acting to be of a really high standard throughout.
What really made this film for me, was how authentically it sets up this triangle of relations. It doesn't try to make anyone the villain nor the hero, and because of that, each person who watches it will likely be able to relate (and thereby root for) at least one of the three. In that sense, it's very reminiscent of Past Lives (2023), that instead of betrayal, desire and rivalry plays on love, loyalty and fate.
It should be obvious to anyone that Challengers was snubbed of multiple Academy Award nominations, which is another way of saying that it's a beyond recommendable film.
