Words cannot genuinely explain how i feel about this movie. I LOVE this movie so much. It is my favorite movie of all time. Nothing beats this. It is the only movie that has made me laugh out loud and still at the same time shows the realities of living in south central los angeles at the time. So much happens, but it doesnt feel unrealisitc, it feels like stuff like this happens every day in the neighbourhood. It is true to its time and based on the fact that ice cube is from there, he had accurate outfits, language and attitudes. The charatcgers are so diffrent from eachother, but at the same time theyre not. You feel like they grew up with eachtoher and it makes it even more special that it was shot in the real location and that ice cube interpreated his childhood and adolescence into the movie. The punchlines are good and the jokes land flawlessly. The word for this movie is: flawless. They talk about the other characters traits that we dont see in the movie or see later, but it adds to the effect of proximity in the community. You will crack up. It also shows diffrent characters and hierchy in the neighbourhood that adds to the realness and makes it seem like youre just hanging with friends. You feel connected while your laughing and you wont get bored of the movie. It has some very important messages, especielly at the end. It hits even harder knowing ice cube grew up around here and he made the script. This movie is flawless and smokey and craigs friendsship was always funny throughout the whole movie. It was never boring, but it was never unrealisitic. Smokey is going to go down in history books as the funniest charatchter ever, but even then he was just a normal guy from south central. It has these messages to the youth, but conciously hides it behind humor. Craig and smokey are so diffrent from eachother, but it fits so well. Come to think of it, all the charachters are diffrent, but it works smoothely. I feel like anyone can watch this movie, either to cheer you up after a break up or just because you want to laugh. This movie has it all. Cinematic perfection. The medium production value adds to the south central feel. I would call Ice cube a comedic genius for this. My personal favorite movie for sure. Watch it every week and i dont ever get bored! And with a homie like dre just supplying the beats! Dr dre helped with the music and he in himself is a legend and an icon. It was very fun to see the former bandmates team Up!
