This was such a beautiful movie. While it was funny I couldn’t help but notice these parallels that made it so only made sense for Grace to go with Rocky in the end. A few of my favorites… Grace asks Dr. Stratt for time to think about throwing away his life. Dr. Stratt gives him three hours. Grace asks Rocky for time to decide if he should return home. Rocky says to take a long time. Of course, they were in very different situations, but nonetheless. The one that makes me cry a little bit is when Grace explains that he’s not willing to die to save earth. Earlier than that, the commander tells him it’s not bravery, it’s just when you find somebody to die for. Grace does not hesitate to go save Rocky, even if it means he will never return home. One of the best friendships in cinema. I also really enjoyed how Rocky looks like he’d be a dumb, golem type creature, but then, he’s actually very intelligent, and is constantly telling Grace what to do.

This movie is actually so funny “Oh running off to war like a coward!” “Will be sweet to plague the human race again!” “That was no accident. He murdered me in cold blood. Kindly alert the authorities.” “Last night I was your enemy, but now I’ve changed!” “It’s all been a dream!” “No, it was witchcraft.” I really enjoyed this. Sweet and evil at the same time. Also loving her in the 1940s allowing you to like the main character woman even though she’s canonically evil. My only note is that Jennifer is the original manic pixie dream girl.
