It’s a good horror film, yes.
It has tons of deeper meanings and theories, also yes.
If the tethered didn’t know about the life above, they would have never even thought about this whole revolution.
None of them were evil or good, they just dealt with what they had and with the environment they grew up in. Which, in my opinion, is a beautiful reflection about humans in general.*
