Badlands
I’ve been meaning to get into some Terrence Malick films for quite some time, and what better way to do with other than starting with the debut. What a debut film that was, I’d tell ya.
Terrence and Orson have some of the most beautiful debut films i’ve ever seen. Especially this film. All of the huge, beautiful, but empty shots forged a character itself, which mirrored the emotional emptiness Kit had stored deep down. Plus most of these shots are in the magnificent and beautiful state of Colorado which helped formed the fairytale of the “American dream” atmosphere this film needed. Then Holly’s Narration throughout the entirety of duration just added the cherry on top with the mystical feel. Plus a soundtrack that couldn’t have been more perfect as well.
Martin Sheen you truly never disappoint either, i’ve only seen about 3/4 films with him attached to them and man is he great every time. Truly embodied the search for meaning in a desolate world.
