holy shit in the age of AI girlfriends this movie needed to be made holy shit I held my breath so much during this and I laughed and I wanted to cry and wow I’m back to add more thoughts because I can’t stop thinking about this movie When Nikki was begging for Bear to kill her ( not to let her go, not to help her TO KILL HER ) his response is defensive and disgusting. I considered him the villain far before that scene happened, but I could still see him trying to rationalize the situation he created. He didn’t even try to help her in that moment. And when he decides to kill himself, it’s not to set Nikki free. The damage is too great and he doesn’t see a way out for himself. He kills himself to set himself free. Nikki is left with three dead bodies and the trauma of having lived through something no one would ever believe. He never loved her, there was never a sacrifice ( or even consideration ) for her health or safety. When she was covered in vomit and urine … he didn’t try to get another wish when he saw how much she was suffering. He wanted to alter the wish so it fit the fantasy he made in his mind. When given the option to break it completely (despite it not being a real choice ) he STILL chose to strip her of her autonomy. It was impossible for me to not think about the impact that AI girlfriends and made to order porn on sites like onlyfans have on the way men treat women when watching this.
