The budget is so low because of all of the therapy bills Shane Carruth had to pay btw

**When i experienced this movie I did it all at once. So I felt both happy and sad, happy because I saw that for me it’s the beginning of this mind blowing adventure, and sad because I knew it was already over.** The reason this movie is so incredibly inspiring in my opinion is the way it conveys its ideas to the audience. It is divided into two major acts: The first act of Ian and Sofi deals more-so with the topic of spiritualism and belief, and the idea of eyes as windows into the soul. And even though the second act concentrates more on Karen’s and Ian’s scientific breakthrough it comes full circle when Ian travels to India to search for Sofi‘s eyes and begins to believe her childish beliefs of spiritualism. This movie uses a lot of symbolic elements to subtly describe this spiritualism but a constantly recurring symbol is that of the white peafowl, it stands for two core themes 1. In eastern buddhist cultures, which appear towards the end of the movie again, it personifies spirituality and enlightenment but also a symbol of nirvana. 2. In christian arts it is depicted as a metaphor for resurrection and the after life, both topics which are explored further on in the second act of the movie. Another way its ideas are expressed in this movie is by the image of a dandelion. Just as the white peafowl it also stands for transformation but in contrast to that one here it describes the transformation of beliefs. One example is that the Dai Lama talked about in the movie, and the other one being Ian himself.
