Dekalog
The Dekalog is a masterclass in acting, direction, cinematography, dramatization, storytelling, I could go on. There’s a reason Ebert user it as the focal point of all the college classes he taught. It really is that good. Kieslowski has powerfully dramatized the Ten Commandments, creating thought provoking scenarios that force you to engage with them and question what you would do in place of his characters. He tackles the arbitrary nature of love, family, God, and many more concepts, questioning what truly defines them. Kieslowski also debates what constitutes murder, adultery, suicide, theft, and a plethora of other tragedies we face in this world. Overall, Dekalog is a truly impressive and impactful cinematic achievement that everyone should see.
