Stalker
This is the first time a movie has left me speechless. So many ideas and thoughts, yet i can’t seem to come to a conclusion.Themes of faith, desire, ego, art and cynicism were introduced in extremely interesting pattern, at some point i felt emotionally and mentally overwhelmed from all the thoughts that came to my mind.Three main characters interacted in such poetic manner. They all stunned me with incredible monologues and dialogues. The stalker who has faith, yet somehow we can’t call his character happy or hopeful, yet he has a purpose and he believes in it, the poet-who has lost faith in passion and a scientist who has lost faith in knowledge and its power. They’re all nameless, because they represent a certain trope we find in people around us. They’re cynical, soulless-just as the stalker criticizes (can’t blame them, it’s an apocalyptic universe after all) they have lost faith in something greater, they lost faith even in themselves. They all seek something quite noble and aristocratic in the zone but human mind isn’t that simple. There are layers of our desires and goals, we might not even realize how much we want it but it’s there and we want it unconsciously. The room knows about those desires (if it actually has the power as the stalker claims) and grants human’s darkest, deeply rooted desires. Does those desires make us who we are or are we the product of society and it’s system? at the same time, The stalker made me think if stalker’s faith was actually a solution or not for human salvation…the ending represented hope that comes from generations and childhood innocence to me, considering how much religious symbolism this movie had it’d make sense, but i still have more questions than answers and id have to rewatch.
seriously, this movie just made me so fucking emotional for some reason lol
