STRAW

i really tried not to cry (i was watching it with my mom and my cousin) but when the rally scene came on, i just LOST IT. something about it broke through every wall i had up. taraji p. henson is unreal in this. her performance is so raw, you forget you’re watching a movie. janiyah’s pain feels too real. that mix of love, exhaustion, and quiet rage hit way too close. the twist caught me off guard, and suddenly everything made more sense. the weight she was carrying, the way she moved through the day like she was already halfway gone. ALSO detective raymond?? was lowkey distracting because she is absolutely gorgeous. (miss teyana taylor I am in love w u)  this movie is messy in the way real life is messy. painful, beautiful, and way too familiar. and sometimes, that’s exactly what a story needs to be.
