Scarface
Hard to rate for me who has just finished it because it is also really hard to process, not because theres anything too shocking in it (while it has some powerful moments), the whole movie in general feels cocaine rushed just as much as the amount of cocaine shown on screen.
But not to oversee this has a lot of value in its character study on madnes and greed, all refering back to the capitalistic dream of gaining more and more in terms of money, status and power. Which is made quite excellent in this, shown through the character development of Tony Montana, first only showing signs of narcism and later on descending into absolute destruction of others, only for the own egoistic wealth.
Al Pacino acts really good and prooves his talent again with a great role which makes his filmography more versatile, showing theres literally nothing he cant deliver. Visually and from De Palmas style I respect it a lot and it might be really fitting to what it should be, but there could have been a few more breaks for my personal liking.
The runtime is also a little too long for me, even tho theres soo much rushed action it got kinda repetitive in some parts and leaves you with brain fog at the end as you watched 3 hours of mid paced adrenaline boosters.
The critique by no means makes it a bad movie tho, excellent in most parts and a really fitting making, but that excact making is also a lil too much and a few changes couldve made it a 10/10, enjoyed it a lot overall, especially that ending
