Don't
I’ve really come to appreciate Edgar Wright so much more after realizing just how wild his range is. Like… how can the same brilliant mind behind the Cornetto Trilogy also make Baby Driver? SERIOUSLY, HOW. Granted, we do not speak of Last Night in Soho, but I digress.
This short is such a hilarious play on classic horror tropes in the best way possible—everything from the over-the-top voiceover guy to the acting to the costumes. AND THAT EDITING? Edgar Wright, you magician. Simple perfection.
The only thing seriously haunting me (completely unrelated to the actual review) is that I swear I’ve seen this concept before. Isn’t there some Super Bowl ad or something starring Simon Pegg that has the exact same vibe? I can picture it so clearly but I cannot find it anywhere. It’s driving me insane.
Anyway—still an amazing addition to Grindhouse. But as a proof of concept for a feature-length film? I honestly think this works better as a short.
