Sirens
Hey Hey!
I went into this miniseries with incredibly high expectations (mainly because, when it comes to TV, I strongly believe Netflix can do no wrong—movies are a different story, but I digress). Honestly, it was… okay.
I would have preferred more explanation about the cult—maybe even a supernatural angle to give it some weight. Something in the final episode to tie everything together would’ve gone a long way. Instead, we’re left with the “power of young women” theme, which has been done before and didn’t feel fresh here.
On the technical side, the cinematography is decent—though a little too artsy for my taste—but not bad. The sound design, on the other hand, is impeccable. Acting across the board is strong, but the script drags the whole thing down. It’s underwhelming because it isn’t really a thriller: nothing gets cleared up, nothing is revealed, and ultimately, it doesn’t deliver on what the trailer promised.
Entertaining? Yes. Exciting? Not so much.
