This aged….well.

Was really living out my 2000s fantasy re watching this in the cinema for its 25th anniversary. This film is exactly like Elle woods fun and campy but also smart and intelligent.

To begin with I want to say I know the og backrooms lore so I wasnt going into this uneducated however I just don’t think this was great, it fell really flat in that it’s meant to make you feel on edge and uncomfortable but it kept losing that for me. In that the opening was great but then it felt like it was all lost. The film went nowhere and to be really honest the script felt really underdeveloped, everything the characters said meant nothing. However there were aspects that were really impressive and immersing and I liked the idea that the backrooms is something we build ourselves through trauma and experience and how those memories aren’t always what they seem.

Oh how I love films about the dark side of Hollywood, and I’ve finally watched the definitive and it did not disappoint. The final shot is haunting.
