The Handmaiden
This isn't just a film, it's a complex, thoughtfully crafted, artful masterpiece. I've never read the book, but I can tell they didn't just translate it into film; they transformed it into film. The writing is simply amazing, you never know what's gonna happen next, it's filled with tons of amazing twists and turns, and is amazingly executed. Park Chan-Wook doesn't just direct films, he engineers them. The pacing takes its time, but it totally rewards you. It also has great directing and cinematography. And man, the story, it's beyond words how good the story is. And the score is also good. I have no complaints, this is the kind of story storytellers dream of making, that most never achieve. Overall, this movie is amazing, Park Chan-Wook is unlike any other director I've seen, and keeps up his distinct style that makes his films so charming and amazing.
