***“Le monde est à vous”*** Just finished my first black-and-white film, la Haine, and I love it. The ending left me speechless because it didn’t give me closure. It left me with a personal interpretation and a tension the whole movie has been building. ***“Mais l’important c’est pas la chute, c’est l’atterrissage.”*** 6:01 am. At 6:01 am I could finally understand everything. The whole movie is the fall and the ending is the landing. Because you can see that the whole point of the film isn’t principally about the last gunshot but everything before it: police harassment, fear, humiliation, masculinity, pride, everybody is acting like things are still under control even tho people are already falling socially, emotionally and politically. I loved every strange encounter in this movie because they remind us that it’s not only about one dramatic event, but about a whole social world full of tension, memory, and people trying to be seen. Because it’s not only one person’s story, it is a whole community carrying the same anger, the same violence, the same consequences, and the same *fall. **“Le monde est à nous”***
