Your Name.
What can I even say about this masterpiece? This is just an incredible film, and honestly, I don’t think there’s anything I would improve.
I remember watching it years ago at home, but seeing it now in the cinema made it even more spectacular. For me, it has everything: the soundtrack, the story, the animation… everything works perfectly together.
The animation is absolutely beautiful. The drawings, the landscapes, the movement, the details, everything is just stunning to look at. Maybe I’m not completely objective because I love anime, but I really think this film is visually incredible.
The soundtrack is also amazing. The main theme is beautiful and it plays at the perfect moments, elevating the emotional impact of the scenes so much. It’s one of those soundtracks that you keep listening to even after the movie ends.
The voice acting is fantastic. Mone Kamishiraishi and Ryūnosuke Kamiki as Mitsuha and Taiki put so much emotion into their performances that you really get attached to the characters and what they’re going through. You can feel the emotions in every important scene, and that makes the story hit even harder.
And the story… I think it’s a beautiful love story with a really strong fantasy element. The way the story is told is great, the structure works really well, and when the film shifts and you start to understand what’s really happening, it gives the story a perfect twist that changes everything.
The movie honestly feels very short because you’re so invested in it. You just want it to keep going so you can spend more time with these characters and this world.
For me, it’s easily one of the best animated films. I know some people won’t watch it just because it’s anime, but this is one of those films that everyone should give a chance at least once.
“I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.”
