Cure
Terrifying not only because of its violence, but for how effortlessly it shows ordinary people slipping into darkness without even realizing it. Kurosawa does such a good job of building tension with silence and emptiness, letting this feeling seep into every space. It's super interesting because we all like to think we’re immune to influence, but the film shows how vulnerable we all are. It's indirectly a super cool political commentary on how certain forces shape decisions in our everyday lives and rid us of control we never knew we surrendered.
