Hamnet
This movie was so sad and so moving. I had heard so much about Jessie’s acting throughout the awards season, but when I finally watched the film, I was completely devastated. She delivered such a powerful and undeniably shattering performance, and she truly carried the movie along with the kids and Paul, but mostly her. She absolutely deserved every single award in that category.
Another thing is that in the play the language was too advanced for me to fully understand, so I didn’t really knew what they were saying but somehow, I could still feel what the play was about and I cried so much.
In addition, the moment when she reached out her hand to him was the peak of the movie for me. It was the moment where it truly felt like she saw him as her son, and that what Will was trying to do had worked and that he had managed to give his son a different, less cruel ending.
BTW a detail that stood out to me was not knowing who Paul was at first, since I hadn’t read the synopsis. I suspected he might be William Shakespeare, and when it was revealed mid-movie, it felt intentional and fitting, showing him first as a father and husband.
