There Will Be Blood
Easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. With this PTA movie has established himself as a top 2 director for me already and I’m making it my personal mission to watch most of his movies so I can be number one. His movies have me entranced and locked in more then any other movies have before, mostly because of his masterful use of soundtrack and score. It is the most fascinating thing ever to me, it literally puts me directly In the shoes of the character and it makes me whatever emotion he is trying to evoke immediately. Plus the beautiful camerawork is simply perfect. I also love how he focuses more on the actors, letting them do their thing. This might be the best character study I’ve ever seen. Daniel Plainview and Eli are so in depth snd complicated characters. I spent the entire movie trying to sympathize with Daniel and see his good side, only to find out he has none which is incredibly powerful. I think this is also Paul Dano’s best work, him playing both twins to perfection and representing greed to the max. The symbolism in this movie is unmatched also, just like in every PTA movie. I literally got goosebumps during the sermon scene where Eli embarrassed Daniel and the final bowling scene ( which is full of symbolism, my favorite being him staring the scene in the gutter). PTA is a genius and I will now be watching all of movies to enjoy them more. This is easily top 10 best films I’ve seen.
