Funny Games
i am so amazed and pleasantly surprised by this film. michael haneke exposes all viewers for what they truly came there for and did not allow us to have the satisfaction of what typically would transpire in thrillers and horror. watching cruelty and violence for entertainment makes us complicit and used to it, desensitized. I clicked play expecting thrill, shock, tension and brutality, and he made sure to punish that expectation. now i feel fucking stupid because he literally slammed me and indirectly called me out. he denied every normal construction of a horror/thriller film, and did it in a way that gave the audience nothing but frustration. the fourth wall breaks were also so fye. this was peak.
