Opening Night

Gena Rowlands just took over the screen at all times, this was just an insane performance. I love how this was made from start to finish with us being with Myrtle and going through her mental breakdowns with her, and then also throwing us with the audience during the plays as if we were watching in the crowd with the rest of them. I really cant get over Gena Rowlands performance though. It was so unhinged and uncomfortable because you never knew what she would do when she stepped on stage next. The frustration she faced was portrayed perfectly and it really described and brought to life how woman feel when trapped in a societal box like getting “old”. Cassavetes is a director I’m definitely looking forward to getting to know more.
