Devilman Crybaby

5/10 Like damn this anime is like a 3/10 if you count out the last 2 episodes. I actually despised the first episodes because it isn't subtle in the slightest and it handfists it ideas and themes in the worst way possible. The writing was actually so bad at times that I had to pause and rethink my life. But that was before the last 2 episodes, and damn those episodes saved the whole show for me. It is legitimately one of the best and most bold endings I have seen and is really up their in terms of endings in all of fiction but in my opinion it doesn't rival the likes of the third impact in EOE/NGE, white rose's machine in Mr. Robot, FLCLimax, the eclipse in berserk or the ending of 2001 (which are very similar endings in a way) but I think that it beats out other really impactful endings like the thanos snap and the destruction of Neo-tokyo but only barely. The ending was so great because it all the characters were thin as paper before but the ending fleshed out the characters more and the themes were really elevated. On another note I loved the music through out the show because it was very "hotline miami" like and that is a game series that I adore. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone as it is a 3 at is highest before the ending which is really disapointing as the ending is really great and it feels like the writer took a quick writing class or something and learnt to write a script or something. If you wanna watch it look up a summary and stop at episode 8, that is the best tip I can give as a whole package it is not worth to watch in my opinion but as said that ending is so fucking great and if the whole show had the same quality as the ending it would be an easy 8/10 but as it stands now it is barely a 5/10.
