Obsession
A guy makes a wish that backfires, and the girl he really likes becomes obsessed with him. Sure, we’ve seen this hundreds of times before.
Critics are saying great things. You’re hearing the lead actress is awesome. Cool! Let’s go see it.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA. The hype is REAL. This movie is off-the-charts.
Inde Navarrette is INCREDIBLE. Remember how much people loved Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley in The Substance? Navarrette is better. Sally Hawkins in Bring Her Back? NAVARRETTE IS BETTER.
My one note is regarding the weird way Nikki sometimes moves around a room; instead of doing a “film played backwards” move, I wish Barker had just let her do a thing. Maybe her thing wasn’t creepy enough. I was distracted when the weirdness came from film played in reverse. But that’s splitting hairs, I tell you.
This is chaos on parade in all of the best ways. Alex Forrest needs to take notes.
Curry Barker also directed Milk and Serial, which I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t yet watched. I will be watching it this weekend. Let this guy make more movies.
