Heat
I didn’t expect to like this film as much as I did. I may have identified with Vincent Hanna a little too much. Considering I’m a 36 year old woman who isn’t a cop, I’m not sure how that works. Okay, that’s not true. The characters are so richly written. I guess I expected 2D characters, or characters with ham-fisted issues, personalities, and development. I do wonder if the editing could have been a little different because I felt myself wishing for about 30 more minutes, but it was already almost 30 minutes long. There were a few areas where I had to fill in the details because they didn’t have time to show, not tell. Vincent’s throw away comment about his crazy stepdaughter wasn’t quite enough to lead to her suicide attempt.
All in all, I didn’t expect to find myself wondering if my personality is the same as Al Pacino’s. I have to really watch some more of his films now.
