Showed to my dad and gave a higher score— this movie is seriously like nothing I’ve seen before, I can’t compare it to anything else. The whole vibe and feeling is incomparable. I love it so much. It’s not perfect by any means. There are a lot of things I’d change. But I love it.

This movie lost me a little in the middle, but it was so good. I absolutely love Frances M in every movie I’ve seen her in. I don’t think she should’ve won the Oscar for this specific role, but she does deserve an Oscar in general, so I’m not upset about it. Also, filmed in NC, so every scene I could just about smell the air

I don’t mess with that demonic ritual vibe 😂🙏 Satan I rebuke thee. I was literally saying I love you Jesus in my head. The Total Eclipse of a Heart scene saved this whole movie for me.

Okay! So, watched it again and disliked it even more. To begin: great soundtrack, great visuals (for the most part), interesting concept. Michael B Jordan WINNING an OSCAR for BEST ACTOR for THIS?? My dad watched it with me and said it was the least likely best actor he’s ever seen. And not because he’s a “hidden gem” or something. Because the acting is good at best. Yall can cancel me if you’d like. I think the plot is just messy. The beginning drags on and on and then the last half hour is just a crammed, equally slow-paced vampire saga that comes out of nowhere. They reference music harnessing evil in the very beginning, but I think there should’ve been more signs and cross referencing in the exposition to the fact that vampires even exist in that universe, because to me it really came out of nowhere. YES I GET WHAT THE VAMPIRES ARE SUPPOSED TO MEAN. That doesn’t take away from the randomness. Please. It also turns very Marvel-esque at the end when he is obliterating everyone with a gun. And also his woman and baby sitting there in white clothing couldn’t have been more cliche, it could’ve been done in a way cooler way. The acting from everyone isn’t great. It feels on par with a Netflix movie- the accent, the cadence of speech, etc all sounds very dramatic and almost as if I’m watching a play. I think the concept is very original and could’ve been done with so much more justice. The white people (specifically Irish at that) coming in and turning the black people into their own kind is obviously very metaphorical and I think it could’ve been done in a way that was much more complex and interesting. I also think adding the vampire elements like garlic and wooden stakes was cringe. LOL I posted a TikTok saying I didn’t like this movie and I get comments to this day calling me racist, ignorant, uneducated, stupid, white girl. Guys, it’s a movie. Thanks for reading.
