Obsession
Okay, this one is completely different.
This movie is genuinely one of the best things I've seen in years, and I'm not even exaggerating.
What a performance. What a screenplay. WOW.
Days later, I'm still thinking about it, a completely unforgettable experience that I don't think I'll be able to replicate anytime soon.
Inde Navarrete... THE ACTRESS THAT YOU ARE.
I genuinely can't think of a clearer Oscar-worthy performance than this.
This movie is fantastic, almost flawless, and if it works as well as it does, it's because of one name: Inde Navarrete.
Everyone involved with this film should be sending her a thank-you card, because she is the reason this movie reaches another level.
From the second "Evil-Nikki" appears, she completely owns the screen.
Every scene becomes hers, delivering a performance that is completely unhinged, unpredictable and absolutely brilliant.
The last time I saw an actress dominate a movie like this was Emma Stone and that's not exactly a small comparison.
I can't wait to see what she does next.
The rest of the cast is solid. It's impossible not to compare them because, let's be honest, they are completely overshadowed by Inde Navarrete's performance.
Still, most of them do a great job, with Michael Johnston being the weakest link in some moments, although he still delivers a good performance overall.
The screenplay is an absolute beast, not only does it completely pull you into the story, but it also has the confidence to take risks and tell a brutal story without playing it safe.
The film makes it pretty clear who the villain is, and no, it's not Nikki.
A debut that puts Curry Barker on the map and proves he is a director worth keeping an eye on.
If he can create something this impressive with four unknown actors, I can't even imagine what he can do with Aaron Paul and Bryce Dallas Howard in his next project.
