incredible, the core concept is superb. the exploration of space and the message of the fragility of man’s power is presented in such a powerful way.  although, i felt that this film was very slow at times, with nothing really notable happening in the first half (except for the opening sequence). kubrick presents a important philosophical question on the very nature of life. the cyclical plot really highlights man’s inability to be truly in control, and warns of the dangers of putting absolute trust in artificial intelligence, a problem still incredibly pertinent today.

incredibly vivid and powerful, a truly superb depiction of the evacuation of dunkirk.
