Light Light Light
One more step and I'll shoot.
I guess they're getting better in producing doomed yuri aren't they? it gets a while to get into it but once it was over, my own existence was too. It is that kind of “silent" and “empty” cinematography which however gives you the chance to fulfil it with what you're receiving; by this i mean that the style and the production give you space to embrace what the plot is giving you. the fatal weapon of the whole film was the back and forth between a carefree teenage run through the woods and the preamble to a tragic end, which was personally the most and least predictable at the same time, ever (god forbid two lesbians love each other and they both happily survive). Mimi's lore was so raw and complex that I wouldn't even know where to start, it comprehends rage, precariousness and hammering tragedy while Mariia's provides subtle silences and painful passivity, just for them to end up at the exact contrary. Despite the fact I've never focused on the possibility of this historical contaxt as a movie background, i was in the end glad it gave voice to such an event, it's unexpected but blended magically well. Finally, if you're happy and mentally stable don't damage your peace so brutally, or do, it's worth it anyway
