The best of the knives out franchise. Johnson is no mastermind but he delivers on all the mystery a whodunnit film would need and more. A great cast with Josh o’Connor, Josh brolin, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner and Cailee Spaeney being the standouts. Fortunately, the knives out film don’t struggle with continuity as they can all stand alone well - Wake up dead men is best at that. Some great dialogue and unsurprisingly funny scenes. Benoit Blanc is such a great character, this film succeeds in making him more compelling. The main issue I had with the film is Mila Kunis’s horrendous performance and the inconsistency of the reveals. Although it works for the most part - the film doesn’t necessarily twist - it changes the audiences perception. It only makes for a lower quality work, not a less enjoyable experience. I hate Netflix’s idea of cinema, this is a prime example of why. Why wasn’t there a wide release in theaters/cinemas?
