All That Jazz
Bob Fosse didn't make a movie about death as much as he made one about living like there's never enough time. Every dance number feels like a celebration while every quiet moment reminds you the curtain has to fall eventually. It's narcissistic, vulnerable, funny, exhausting, and somehow honest enough to get away with all of it. It feels like watching an artist dissect himself on stage before anyone else can. Weirdly, it reminded me of Youssef Chahine another filmmaker who couldn't help but turn his own life into cinema. Different worlds, same obsession
