Hamnet
“Our childrens hearts beat, they smile, play. Never forget for a moment, they may be gone.”
——
Okay so wow. Hamnet is one of my mom’s favorite books and we were both beyond excited to see the movie in theaters. Safe to say, I spent the final 50 minutes in tears and will never recover. The writing, the cinematography, THE SCORE!!

Jessie Buckley’s performance is once in a lifetime. This was the single most moving performance I may have ever seen. It was so raw and so beyond heartbreaking that I constantly heard gasps and sniffling throughout the final act. Every single time she was on screen, I felt it in my entire body. When she looks around and realizes that generations to come will grieve her son with her, insane.
——
The other performances are no less impressive. Paul and Jacobi both were perfect and I fully believe that in a just world, that little boy would be nominated for all the awards right now. His sweet little face when he was wandering around that set in purgatory. Beautiful.
Besides the main three, Emily Watson, Noah Jupe and Bodhi Rae Breathnach were such massive standouts to me in a movie full of career bests.
——
In conclusion, I will never be the same, I will be reading the book immediately and I will be watching this movie again and I will cry again.
