loveee this. such a fun and fresh take on college life and music competitions. the concept of competitive acappella groups was so unique and instantly addictive. loved the mashups, the riff-offs, and how every performance had so much energy and style. the barden bellas’ journey from stuck-up to show-stopping was super satisfying to watch. ALSOOOOO love love love the jokes. even the racist ones LMAOOO it’s funnyyyyy alr???? if u get offended by it, u sensitive asf and need to chill. (im asian, jokes against us r der until the second movie and i still found everything hilarious) DONALD IS SO HOT BTW???? the cast had amazing chemistry. anna kendrick, rebel wilson, skylar astin, brittany snow, adam devine, and the whole gang mhm. hilarious, musical, and oddly heartwarming. one of those comfort movies u can always go back to and still enjoy like it’s the first time.

meh why is the camerawork literally js like an edit of blake lively in her bikini. it focused way too much on that than the plot lmao

wish it was more tragic rather than the exploration of afterlife. call me a masochist but i wanted to be devastated. instead, i just felt detached. the concept had so much emotional weight, but the movie leaned too much into the afterlife fantasy instead of grounding us in the actual grief and tragedy of it all. like GIRLLL, this should’ve wrecked me. instead i got soft filter heaven scenes and a killer who felt like a side character. saoirse ronan did great tho—she always eats. not to mention stanley tucci. but ye, i wish it focused more on the horror of what happened and the raw aftermath. it had great potential to be haunting in the right way

meh. it was aight. visually stunning, and as always, lin manuel miranda slays his songwriting. the songs were catchy, meaningful, and fun to sing along to. howeverrrrrr the plot felt a little too rushed at times, and i didn’t connect w the story or characters as deeply as i wanted to. still, the overall message abt generational pressure and finding self-worth outside of expectations was solid. not a fave, but definitely enjoyable.
