There’s only so much Wes Anderson I can take and there was too much of him in this film How comes when the Gilmore girls speak fast everyone’s like those bitches talk too much and too fast but when Wes Anderson does it everyone glazes him🤔 Food for thought. 💭  was not a fan of the constant speedy monologues and hyperstylised kitschy overdone play-like obvious exaggerated cartoonish performances and set design  Also I fell asleep twice during this just to put in perspective

Pros So fucking good and cunty Incredible soundtrack bjork likeeeee Amazing costumes and makeup Beautiful women and incredible cast The camerawork was amazinggg I was gagged Ik this bitches was going crazy with this on tumblr in 2013 The colour grading insanee 🤌 Emily browning is literally the most beautiful woman in the entire world I’m not just saying that she genuinely is no one comes close I loveddd the video game elements and all the moments when she descended into her fantasy worlds with her cunty ass kill bill sword 🗡️ Cons Unfortunately I really hated the whole prostitution element of it, made me feel rly uncomfortable & I find it so hard to watch any films that involve any sexual violence or exploitation towards women and in this film especially it felt extremely unnecessary. I don’t know why they had to turn it into a brothel club and why they couldn’t of just kept it set in an asylum I think that could’ve been better tbh In addition the whole film did feel very male gaze, not rly at first but as they brought in the prostitution elements I was like helllll no. Feels very similar to kill bill in a way that I couldn’t really tell if it was slightly feminist or not as they both have crazy misogynistic vibes and directed by questionable men however I would say this film definitely has less feminist elements than kill bill as the sexual exploitation was a much larger theme and babydoll doesn’t exactly achiever the greatest ending. I mean at least it was very bechdel test passing tho and the costumes were fab Look this film is cunt and great for many reasons but the acting and writing is not😭😭😭 the writing is so ahhhh and cringe. I’m sorry I wanted to love this film SO MUCH but I just can’t get over that shitty acting and writing. I loved the cast tho but tbf how r u supposed to act well when the writing is that bad Was slightly repetitive at times but I loved the fantasy fighting scenes so whatever maybe they just could’ve added slightlyyyy more of a storyline to it idk The things that happen when u try to mix kill bill x series of unfortunate events x girl interrupted x moulin rouge x Scott pilgrim vs the world together

I did not clock that Paul and Eli were two different people I litch thought he was just a bit psychotic. I mean I think the film was a lot more interesting in the beginning but I don’t think it needed to be so extremely long. I felt it quite hard to connect with the characters and slightly too slow paced when I think adding in a bit more anticipation and fast paced elements would’ve suited it really well. Also so many things I felt were not really portrayed or explained well like not only the Paul and Eli thing but also the fact that his son was not really his like he kinda hinted towards it at the end but not really? For me I was expecting a bit more due to the high rating especially because I love westerns and the summary looked great but was slightly underwhelmed and it was all a bit meh  However there were some bits I did like and I thought the acting/performances from Paul dano was amazing ofc and Daniel day Lewis, the shots and set design really blew me away asw as the score and there were also a few more things I liked.
