Double Indemnity

Thank you SO much to José for this recommendation holy fucking shit!! (Doing recs in chronological order aka top to bottom) I’ll be completely honest in this review when I say I had NO idea what I was in for watching this. Not only is this a great introduction to THE Billy Wilder. But also such a phenomenal piece of Noir cinema. I used to think I wasn’t into Noir. Turns out I just hadn’t found the one. I’ve never really dabbled into “Classic Hollywood” if you will. However I’m willing to check out some more to definitely expand my taste but also just due to how great this was. The dialogue was so engaging to watch and twists that came out of nowhere were just brilliant. I can see why this is a classic and it truly deserves that title. It’s so funny because I kept gasping and looking around as if I was watching it with someone like, “Did you just hear what they said?!”. Not a lot of films can do that, not even get a five star from me these days. However Billy Wilder’s Double Indemnity is one to earn the title of 5/5. I seriously suggest checking this film out. Not only is a great tester for Billy Wilder assuming his others are like this. But a really interesting and compelling Noir, Mystery that actually captures pure tension on trying to reconnect the bits as you go. Again thank you SO much José for the recommendation. As I said I’m planning to get some done especially this weekend. What a great start and can’t wait to see some more recs! Also WILL be looking into Billy Wilder because WOW. Recommend me something!
