Kill Bill: Vol. 2
Thank you Logan for the recommendation.
**(June watchlist 9/20)

This film is REALLY hard to rate for me, I’m torn between a 4.5 and a 5. I definitely prefer the first film. But it’s the fact that they’re both incredible. I also mentioned I had seen all of his filmography (not logged) but I actually haven’t. I forgot he did The Hateful Eight and I haven’t seen that yet. Kill Bill Vol.2 is a rare case of a perfect sequel. It carries over perfectly and continues to maintain the sauce that the first had.
While I do get why The Whole Bloody Affair would be a better viewing, I chose to watch it separate. I also did REALLY want to see The Whole Bloody Affair in theatres but due to the UK’s law I was not allowed. However even though it is necessarily one big film. It already feels that way. I think the first one ends it really well, hungry for more like I previously stated. And the second is a dessert, one that has you full and satisfied by the time it’s over. With the epic battles and deep talks, it has what the first one had, then proceeded to make a longer and in ways more satisfying ending.
I do prefer the first film to the second, however keeping that in mind it doesn’t subtract any entertainment or quality. It just for me, I ever so slightly prefer the first film to it. That being said though I can’t help but be a sucker for the way the sequel’s character choices and Bill’s screen time heavily influence my high rating. I truly believe that Bill was a brilliant antagonist, with his Clark Kent/Superman monologue being genuinely a masterpiece of dialogue and very thought provoking. There were lots of twists in this that I didn’t remember and found excellent.
I must say that trailer fight was so brutal yet very well choreographed. The eyeball squash actually made me feel nauseous though. I love how in these films they don’t hold back and really push their audience to the limits in its graphic violence. Reminds me of the, “Why the need for all this gruesome graphic violence?!”, “Because it’s so much fun Jan!!”. I used to hate the backstory wnd think it dragged the fulm down, however coming back to it I loved it. It explains how she came to be and had a key part in Bill’s end. Where the first film explored a brief recap, the second does a better more fleshed out job at looking into the history of Bill and Beatrix.
