Oldboy
Plot twist went so crazy had to pause the film to yap about it to my sibling.
Wow, where do I even begin? This film was actually so insanely cruel. The gruelling experience of watching him fight his way through for answers, while being taunted, uncovering dark secrets, and you’re just sat there thinking what the actual fuck.
I really liked the soundtrack to this film, it was really well executed and the music was just phenomenal. So whoever did the sound on this film deserves a raise!!
The twist was…something, I’ve never seen a character be such a hater in MY LIFE. I was discussing this with my older brother, and we were saying how much of a hater this guy was. It was such a shocking twist of events, the taunting, the reveals, the sadistic smirks, ugh all together such a psycho. Probably one of if not my favourite villains of all time.
Emotional rollercoaster is one way to put this film, I felt tense, awkward, disgusted, upset, horrified, and confused all in the span of 2 hours. The film did a great job at making you go all over the place, and just in time for the main event. The way the film sets things up is honestly genius.
Forget it the villain in this film is my favourite villain, he’s such a sick bastard!! He’s so messed up, and to be honest this whole film makes me want to just vomit, due to the contents! He also felt so bloodcurdling, wether it was his voice, his cold eyes, like the lights were on but nobody was home. It’s this that made him so unpredictable, terrifying, and alien like.
While I feel at moments they went for shock value, others they went for the sick feeling in your gut. They both did excellent job’s at both, and sometimes it was both at the same time. Which made for a uncomfortable experience.
This is probably my favourite movie, maybe of all time, I’m not sure, I know there’s a lot to see, but right now, this is probably my favourite film. Ive never felt so many deep emotions, in such fast and deep doses. This film shoots you with adrenaline, before kicking you down a flight of stairs.
It’s such a emotional film, while it’s definitely disturbing, it’s also deeply upsetting. The story, the opening, a lot of moments during this film makes you feel a lot of sympathy for the main character. But at moments it’s hard to question if what he’s doing is right, all this torture and violence, due to what happened to him. It’s something a lot of people say they would do if this happened to them, but I think the thing that’s actually most valuable is the truth. I think they showed that well in this film.
I was staring at my screen for about 5 minutes after this film ended. I was working up the courage to think about what to rate it, what to say. To be honest sometimes I’m still not sure, but here’s what I will say, the film deeply disturbed me to my core at moments, but it had a charm that made it feel watchable, to a point where it wasn’t just this thing about revenge, the real question is why. It’s a pretty deep question, especially for this case in the film, but it’s something that kept getting more interesting, but harrowing to listen to.
This is also my favourite revenge film, while it used to be kill bill, I honestly can’t see a point in arguing with myself on what’s better. When this was so insanely dangerous, and so intense to a point where it could be classed as even being scary. A lot of moments captured the raw nature of this film, the violent abuse, the sexual violence, the film doesn’t hold back, and it shouldn’t do for what it’s trying to portray. It’s a criminally dark revenge film, with lots of twists that will make you want to pause the film and scream.
