Persona
Persona-lly I really liked this. I really am loving Swedish cinema and if anyone has more recs for SC please feel free to let me know!!
I really appreciate this film on many levels, it’s up close, mind bending, surreal, makes you really question reality. It’s got lots of moments of insanity, pure identity crisis, and really genius storytelling. Ingmar Bergman didn’t just create a highly successful, complex, and compelling piece of cinema, he made a question. A film that can be perceived in many ways, some believe it was two women, I’m personally on the side of it was a split character, with the insanity, identity crisis route. Ingmar Bergman made a love letter to cinema the day he made this, it’s powerful, imaginative, dark, incredible, just overall one of the greatest pieces of cinema to date. Another film I’m upset didn’t see sooner, for the pure pleasure and joy this film gave me. It strikes questions my mind never thought to go to, opened a third eye, and truly felt like I was in a different world when watching this.
A strong contender for my Top 4!!! I’d say a top 5 Persona-lly, pure masterpiece, go see this if you haven’t, seriously. You’re doing yourself a favour.
EDIT: Made it say Swedish cinema as I’m a fucking idiot and thought it was French.
