Videodrome

So my original plan was to watch this with my dad as he wanted to see it too. However it’s 5am, I just finished this and if anyone has seen this film, I think we’re all glad I didn’t see it with him. If I’m being completely honest I genuinely don’t have words to describe what I just witnessed. For the people who have seen this, they will most likely know what the fuck is in this film, and agree when I say “What…”. I’m lying in bed, waiting for some form of courage or something to just write. But I genuinely don’t know what to say? In short words, the main takeaway from this film is the sickly practical effects, being made by Cronenburg I was expecting something off putting to say the least. That’s in fact what I got. There’s moments in the film where I’m questioning I’m watching, for example the stomach vagina. The gore is intense but the makeup is wonderful and has a strong sense of feeling unnatural. To be honest there’s one reason I’m glad I didn’t see this with my dad, it’s the fuck ton of porn and just sex, torture porn etc in this film. It’s not pleasant and seeing it with my dad would make me uncomfortable. I will definitely recommend it to him, however I can’t describe it to him.  All I can really say about Videodrome is that it’s a disgusting, of its time piece of media, that should definitely be studied and looked into for film lovers. Which if you haven’t seen any of the talented but weird as hell David Cronenburg films, you should! The best one in my opinion is this one, this one had Naked Lunch written all over it though, if I’m being honest I still don’t even know how to explain what I just watched.
