i spoiled myself quite a bit because of all the controversies going around before the film even released but, despite that, it ended up being such a surprising watch mental illness is so glamorized in media. it is seen as this quirky and funny fact about yourself, when most of the times it is ugly and debilitating and it makes you feel rotten inside. emma is such a well crafted character; she is a product of her (very american) environment and was radicalized at such a vulnerable age, what she almost did is truly awful but i appreciate the nuance of the situation being so central to the plot. rachel's confession was something i found so severe, and i believe the characters laughing about it adds to the point about how disabled and mentally ill people are barely seen as human the romance aspect also made me feel so much. the flashbacks of their relationship were so sweet and tender, but there's also so much to say about how even when your view of a person shifts the love can remain there in spite of it all when charlie kept deleting the word empathetic i kept on thinking about how that is the word to best describe this film

i don't know how many "aryna sabalenka will burn in hell" i have left in me

this was a very anticipated watch for me to the point i was starting to worry that i would hate it because of how long i looked foward to seeing it. however, i do think it was able to stand on its own outside the hype generated around it, and it ended up being a very pleasant watch i think its simplicity is both this film's weakness and the reason for its massive appeal. while i do believe the themes of loyalty, dignity and bravery are very well conveyed, i would have loved to see a more in depth exploration of its characters. i watched weak hero for the first time last year and i fell in love with park jihoon's performance on the show, so the main appeal for this movie was personally to see what he would bring to the table as the king and he absolutely deserves every bit of praise he is getting for his portrayal. what a way to prove yourself as an actor yoo haejin also brings his all to the screen, and he got two or three tears out of me. but i would also like to praise jeon mido's quiet performance, she brought a much needed fondness to the story overall, i really enjoyed it and i'm excited for it to be acknowledged during awards season

it took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize that was john travolta
