Columbus
as someone who does find a lot of comfort in architecture, this was a big movie for me.
made me think a lot abt my relationship to cities, family, staying/leaving, love languages etc.
i cried a lot but it was also surprisingly funny? these characters felt so whole and real, i loved the dialogue, i loved how it was shot, how the buildings were framed, the kind of recurrence of certain settings that let you project your emotions, the set design, how the light played off of the surfaces in a way that felt both clean and warm... maybe THATS what he meant by modernism with a soul. how the city is a character, watchful, but not in a surveillance way.
i loved the tidbits of architectural philosophy, i love beautiful and thoughtfully designed spaces, architects are kinda funny like that idk.
#dunno if that makes sense but ive been kind of wary of movies lately like a skittish like animal#like im always.... i rarely let myself just enjoy a movie the first time around?#movies that make you wanna visit some city#but i truly trusted this movie and it was nice to like melt into it
