It Ends
My god I really loved this film. I came into it expecting just another artsy indie horror film that you’re just like “wow” at the end of it and you forget about it the next day, but this one I can feel will really stick with me. The plot is simple but still incredibly engaging, the acting is really amazing and made me deeply care about the characters (especially James, he’s very complicated but the most interesting and relatable character imo), the cinematography is genuinely unforgettable, and the overall tone alone of it just made me all in. It went from being pretty scary in a “fear for my life” kind of way to a very conceptually terrifying situation that actually shook me to my core more than any physical threat could ever do. I’m not great at analyzing the deep themes of films usually, but at the very least, the themes that I understood were present in this film really deeply resonated with me, especially as someone in the same stage of life as the characters of this movie. Easily one of my favorite horror films of the year.
