Warfare
I will start my review with a quick preface-
My father has served in the military my entire life. He was infantry, deployed during the Surge in Iraq, spent 458 days there and only one of those days did his element not get shot at. I am now in the military, infantry, like my father. What he saw he prays I never see. What this film portrays he prays I never see. Though there’s a certain reality to our world. War, is hell. War is awful and violent and death.
What Garland and Mendoza have done with Warfare has never been captured before in such spectacle. Between acting, cinematography, sound design, down to how ACCURATE these events are put to screen in the technical aspect let this film become the best war movie I have ever seen, not only one for the post 9/11 era. Everything needed is present and I sat on the edge of my fucking seat, exhilarated with my heart pounding. A work of art that serves as an HONOR to the men and women who fought a terrible war. Throw your fucking politics in the garbage. This is a perfect film. It’s not propaganda. It’s a masterpiece crafted for an audience whom needs to see it for a purpose. To educate. To revel.
Sit the fuck down, watch the movie.
