Inception
Title drop final boss. ✌️
Obviously my experience was enhanced because I saw it in IMAX, but Inception is still one of the most gripping and mind blowing films I’ve ever seen. The scale is ambitious yet it pays off, and I was locked in from start to finish.
The soundtrack is absolutely iconic and arguably makes the film what it is. Hans Zimmer’s score elevates the emotion in every scene, and I don’t think the film would hit nearly as hard without it.
The last hour is some of the best I’ve ever seen in cinema. The way the tension keeps building across the dreams and the soundtrack build is just incredible, and it left me fully on edge while still being amazed at how well it all pieced together.
The acting is excellent all around, with the star studded cast delivering across the board. I found the dynamic between Dom Cobb and Mal to be the main standout, with their storyline surprisingly raising questions surrounding morality very well. Marion Cotillard’s performance as Mal was powerful. I was honestly scared by her at times. 😭
The ending is bold yet not ridiculous. I thought it was the perfect way to wrap up a film and effectively keeps you theorising after the credits roll.
