Double slay for me today
For my big 5k movie I wanted something special to celebrate. A good movie. And after ALOT of deliberation I ended up on Yi Yi. The highest rated movie on the top 250 I was yet to see and one that's been on my rader for many many years now... The biggest issue going into this is one that always come with choosing big celebrated movies like this. Movies you've had exist in your mind for years and heard people go on and on about. Can it really be that good. Will it live up to the great expectations I've inevitably come to create for it. Is it even possible. Well im so so happy to say that it did.
I had a feeling for what this movie was gonna be, and as right as I was I could've still never expected just how good it was. It's still hard for me two days later to put into words exactly what it is. But the movie feels so incredibly human. It's a movie I wanna squeeze dry of emotions and already now I wanna jump back into the movie. Feel what it has to give me. It's so underplayed and subtle that you forget it's even a movie and just watch these humans. Feel them. It's incredible.
I wish I could say more but I just don't know how. The film is top tier there's no doubt. But everytime I think about it I always think more about myself and my own life than the movie. It's like the movie transcends what it even means to be a movie and becomes something else entirely. When it ended I found myself tearing up as soon as the credits rolled. I still don't know why.... I wish someone would take a picture of the back of my head
