Backrooms
i understand wanting some deep message and everything explained. but cmon, when has anything ever been explained in the backrooms. this movie is essentially just an expansion of Kane’s version, nothing is explained just like in kanes original adaptation, where the mystery is the appeal, it’s another story that’s a part of his universe. if u wanted the Async pov, go watch the creepypasta. kane already made ts.
as for the lack of characterisation, these are some regular ass people, not scientists or part of Async trying to really understand. we have a dude who literally just sells furniture. they’re treated like ordinary people thrown into the incomprehensible. thats what makes this great. the horror comes from watching these nobodies confront something they don’t understand instead of it being a survival horror about the hazmat people that have more of a clue of what’s going on and what they’re up against, although that opening scene and every scene with the camcorder style was amazeballs
