damn ts was deep but so beautifully made the colours the cyclical structure and the symbolism of the water and colour blue etc  made it soo good - j loved how as he got older he developed this like armor against his past as juan never lived to teach him how to fight and defend himself but really he is still the same little boy like how kevin was watching him when he was eating was exactly the same as the diner scene with juan  at the start of the movie how he doesn’t wanna talk is the same as when he was little and i think it makes sense that after chiron let that like armor down with kevin it shows  the scene of little him looking out onto the sea which was when he learnt to swim with juan which was the first time he let his like guard down and he always did that around water like his kiss scene with kevin and the ice water after getting beaten up - also how he started to look more like juan in the third chapter really shows the effect he had on him and growing up he always looked to him for guidance so i really don’t think he would have had the trouble that he did when he was a teenager if juan was still around but bullying is so disgusting like what do you mean he did absolutely nothing wrong and they smashed his face in but yeah the parallels from his older self and young self really made the film for me and don’t get me started on the relationship with kevin and how he only let his guard down for him but yeah beautiful film with such an important message as well -
